If you haven’t gathered, I am such a fan of exploring new restaurants and generally eating – especially dessert.
Having heard many great things about Twist in Marylebone, it seemed the perfect opportunity to spend my Friday evening tasting everything on the menu, and sampling the wine at the same time.
It is advised that you have around 2-3 dishes each, and naturally we went completely over board, as usual. (I can’t seem to stop myself when there is a great array of options, especially when they look and sound so tasty).
We opted for:
The 40 Day dry aged grass fed Chateaubriand carpaccio, smoked sheep ricotta, Bronte pistachio, ponzu and yuzu
This was a great dish – and one of our favourites – the pistachio really brought the flavour out of the meat.
Fried courgette flowers filled with ricotta, mint, Amalfi lemon, honey
This was personally one of my favourites, it looks healthy, but inside the courgette flowers the cheese tasted incredible!
Handmade tortelli filled with Périgord truffle, panna acida, Barolo reduction, hazelnuts, porcini dust
Sorry i didn’t get a photo of this one – it was so delicious we inhaled it before i could take a photo!
Warm octopus, potato, water buffalo yogurt, pickled red onion, aji limo, samphire
This tasted as exotic as it looked!
Yellowfin Tuna tartar, yuzu, togarashi spiced yogurt
I love tuna tartar, so for me this was always going to be a winner – the spiced yoghurt was a great addition to the the tartar.
If that hasn’t got your mouth watering, there were plenty of other tasty surprises on the menu here.
As the self nominated dessert queen, I am pretty sceptical about some restaurants who invest a lot of time and money into the mains, but seem to always get the dessert wrong.
Well as with the title, there was a twist with the dessert and i can say it was delicious! We went for the Berry and white almond chocolate crumble, Amalfi lemon sorbet, cardamon and Flan-creme-caramel, salted popcorn flakes, Amazonian cashew nut ice cream – and it they both did not disappoint.
If you are looking for a fabulous experience, with attentive service and a great ambience then you should drop by Twist – but i advise booking earlier in the week, as its a popular place to be seen at.
Until next time,
